About Us

History
The English Jack Russell Terrier has been bred to hunt anything from foxes to rats since the early 1800s. The Reverend John Russell of Devonshire, England developed the breed for a working Terrier. The English Jack Russell Terrier was a big part of the sport of fox hunting. The riders of the fox hunt would put their Terriers in their saddle bags and ride with a group of hounds, while the hounds tracked down the sent of the fox and chased him into his den, the Terriers were then let out of the saddle bags and sent in after the fox to bring him out. They have always been described as a small, longer than tall, sturdy, balanced Terrier made for going to ground after quarry. The English Jack Russell is said to be one of the most intelligent dogs on earth.
