About Us
Introduction
Welcome to West Valley Russell's and thanks for visiting my site. WV Russell's shorties are all registered with the EJRTCA and UKC which is determined to establish pure English Jack Russell Terrier bloodlines. WV Russell's mainly breeds for the smooth coat version of the shorties, but we may have an occasional litter of broken coat or rough coat puppies from time to time. All my puppies will go to approved homes only. We are a small home based breeding program with love for the breed in mind. I have been an owner/ breeder for ten years and have enjoyed the smart, spunky little guys. If for any reason you purchase a puppy and you are unable to keep your pup I have an open door policy, any puppies that leave my place are always welcome back. If you have any questions please feel free to call me or drop me an E-mail anytime. Happy Tails To You!!

History
The English Jack Russell Terrier has been bred to hunt anything from foxes to rats since the early 1800s. The Reverend John Russell of Devonshire, England developed the breed for a working Terrier. The English Jack Russell Terrier was a big part of the sport of fox hunting. The riders of the fox hunt would put their Terriers in their saddle bags and ride with a group of hounds, while the hounds tracked down the sent of the fox and chased him into his den, the Terriers were then let out of the saddle bags and sent in after the fox to bring him out. They have always been described as a small, longer than tall, sturdy, balanced  Terrier made for going to ground after quarry. The English Jack Russell is said to be one of the most intelligent dogs on earth.

  • Nesting behavior may be seen. By now she should have a place to go where she feels safe and away from other dogs, kids and noise. She should have a least 1 week (if not 2) where she has established her place to have her puppies. Appetite may disappear as whelping approaches. Not all, but most will stop eating altogether the day before
